Ciborium (1810), Monstrance (1812), Chalice and paten (1810)
Gold. From the parish council of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours, L'Islet. (DLT-74.19/26/27.01/27.02)In 1810, Father Jacques Panet of the parish of L’Islet commissioned a solid gold chalice and ciborium from renowned Québec City goldsmith François Ranvoyzé. Two years later, he asked for a monstrance to complete his set of liturgical vessels. Since the precious metal was becoming rare, the priest had to have golden louis produced so that the artist could complete the order. These solid gold sacred vessels are the only known specimens in the history of Québec goldsmithery.
