Betty Goodwin
Born in Montréal (Québec, Canada) in 1923
Training
  • Was introduced to the etching technique in the late 1960s at Sir Georges Williams University in Montréal (now Concordia University).
Artistic production
  • A multidisciplinary artist, Goodwin does engraving, sculpture, painting, installation and, primarily, drawing.
  • Her work revolves around recurring themes: life, death, the passage of time, absence, presence, the concrete dimension, in short, everything related to the human condition.
  • She exhibits her work worldwide.
Of note
  • Her work has been featured in major retrospectives.
  • In 1986, she received the prestigious Paul-Émile-Borduas award and two honorary doctorates from Université de Montréal and the University of Guelph.
