  • His prolific work is characterized by attention to realism as shown in his eye for detail.
  • His canvases depict primarily French-Canadian peasants and the Amerindian way of life.He painted some portraits and many fall and winter landscapes.
  • Was very prolific during his stay in Québec City from 1853 to 1863.

  • Enlisted in the US army as a volunteer in 1837.
