MURDERERS AND BEGGARS A trip through time (adults) Length: 1 hour

Discover the history of the Charles-Baillairgé Wing and its transformation from prison to hostel to museum. The guides will walk you through the different sections of the building, such as the former jail cells, and tell you about what daily life was like during the various periods of the building’s history. You’ll also learn about the works of art encountered along the way.

BEHIND BARS A visit of discovery (for 12- to 17-year-olds) Length: 1 hour

Tour the old Québec City jail on the Plains and discover the history of the inmates through role-playing, hands-on activities and games of observation. Learn about Québec’s jail system in the early 1900s and about what daily life was like for the guards and their prisoners.
