Rita Letendre
Born in Drummondville (Québec, Canada) in 1928
Training
  • Took courses at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal from 1948 to 1950.
Artistic production
  • Letendre’s work has evolved through contact with many artistic movements. The artist has explored the Automatism of Borduas (joined the Automatistes group and exhibited her work alongside theirs); the Plastician precepts of Piet Mondrian; abstract expressionism; and Hard Edge.
  • The colour and light emanating from her canvases emit remarkable energy.
  • Her corpus comprises indoor and outdoor murals, prints and canvases, most of which are large-sized.

  • She has done a great deal of travelling.
