Les Pylônes de la porteTo create this work, Borduas used the automatic writing technique, approaching his canvas without any preconceived idea. Freed from any and all constraints, the artist follows his impulse, thereby also freeing his subconscious mind. Borduas produced the foreground first and then superimposed coloured forms using a knife. Spots forming two luminous masses hang weightlessly and move towards the viewer.
