Arthur LabontéThis bust portrays Alfred Labonté, trapper and hunting guide in the Laurentians. Unaccustomed to posing, the man’s expression is one of embarrassment and discomfort. Finger marks are visible on the work’s surface. This stylistic signature of the artist gives the bust a rustic quality that translates the figure’s energy and virility.
